Do you fight or argue with your partner? Do you feel like they just don't see your point of view, or have you been accused of not listening?
These are common problems in relationships. People simply haven't learned how to communicate in a way that is both compassionate and sustainable for the long haul in a relationship.
The focus is always on the beginning... the fireworks, the flirting, the chemistry, the hormones....
Then, after all the initial fireworks have finished, you are left with 2 people standing in a field full of smoke wondering what the hell to do next.
That's when LOVE begins.
Everything before the love was a rush of hormones that tricked you into believing the feelings would last forever. But they don't.
This is not bad news, or negative, it's reality! If you want a sustainable relationship, you have to learn to LOVE one another after the fireworks.
The love is speaking to one another respectfully even when you feel hurt. The love is seeing her beauty when she feels ugly. It's thanking him for plowing the driveway even though you spent the entire day working to exhaustion. It's leaning in to one another when all you want to do is run.
The love is every selfless act you do because you've made a commitment to be together.
