Hey Heathershenhouse Every single day I see people living in misery because they don't know how to make their relationships work and it breaks my heart! They fight with their spouse, argue with their child, or complain about a co-worker because they don't know there is a simple solution to every relationship challenge. You only ever have 3 choices in any problem: - Change it.
- Accept it.
- Leave it.
Change it: If you aren't sure if you can change it, let me help you out... is it YOUR problem? If not, you can't change it. You can't change that your wife is an alcoholic, You can't change who your sister dates. You can't change how your mother feels about your father. You can't change who your kid wants to be. The ONLY thing you can change is YOU. Your thoughts, opinions, words, and behaviors. Period! Accept it: Now to "accept it" doesn't mean you have to agree with it! Don't let your relationship with a loved one suffer because you don't care for their choices. "I don't like that you are moving away because I will miss you, but I know this is best for you so how can I support you through the move?" And parents.... Most kids think parents only care about their performance. Let your kids know that you LOVE them no matter how they do in school, sports, or other activities. Leave it: Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is to leave a situation that you cannot add value to. If you are in a situation that isn't healthy for all parties, it's time to leave! 99% of all problems can be resolved with a few communication tweaks and applying these 3 simple choices. If you struggle to say things that are difficult, or you're unsure how to get your point across without hurting feelings, hit reply to this email and let's set up a free consultation call!
