Hey Heathershenhouse I've been parenting for 25 years and in exactly 1 month, the 2 youngest graduate high school! Then.... In just a few short weeks after that, I'll be an empty nester! Holy shit!? Why is time FLYING??? I'm seriously freaking out. It was just yesterday that my oldest daughter Madison was born and now I'm sending my youngest baby Carrie off to college??? Here are a few tips to SLOW down time.... - Learn something new. When you're a beginner, time slows because you are so cautious of every step. (Learn more about yourself in Inspired Life School)
- Plan something exciting. It always takes forever for that amazing vacation week to arrive.... always have something to look forward to! (Firewalk with me in July?)
- Get rid of the clock for a few hours. Go into nature, or a spa, or some place where you can relax and forget about time. Make sure you have no phone or watch so you can lose track of time!
- Spend tech-free time with someone. Put away your cell, TV, laptop, etc and spend time with the person you love. (Every Wednesday Carrie and I go out for Mommy / Daughter date day. We shop, eat, laugh, and have silly adventures..... tech free mostly... we do tend to break out the cell for a quick pic of our fun together!)
- Ground yourself in the present moment. Turn your brains autopilot off by taking note of the physical things around you. Most of the time you jump in your car and head out without much thought. The next time you drive, notice how the seat feels, notice and touch your mirror, glasses, steering wheel. Say out loud the things you are doing such as "I am setting my GPS for 123 Main St., I am turning my radio to the 80's channel, I am putting my purse on the passengers seat, etc.
- Do something challenging... write a book, solve a puzzle, map out your family tree.
You CAN slow time and get more laughs, love, and special moments out of your days! Is time flying by for you? Hit reply to this email and let me know what you are dealing with....
